We are started at Horstead Mill. The round trip was about four very pleasant hours....
This is what is left after the fire described here...

Another beautiful Norfolk waterway,
No other boats and very few people...
A curious duck
and some exotic sheep
The Bure Valley railway (15 in gauge)
a fine old building
and a very nice golden yellow in the stubble
our destination was Buxton Mill
which you can read about here
http://www.norfolkmills.co.uk/Watermills/buxton.html
I love the history of these waterways and paddling them makes you hope you might see a wherry round the next corner... but no wherries here since 1912, when the locks were destroyed by the great flood...
Where we paddled is upstream from the famous tame Norfolk kingfishers... in the part of the River Bure not open to powered launches...
Next time we are going to explore further up stream from Buxton to Aylsham... here is the put-in for this part of the navigation... upstream of Buxton Mill
Hopefully we will make it to Aylsham... there are few disused locks to negotiate...

Great blog with detail. Lovely part of the world but don't mention Norfolk to 'Lakeland Pete'.
May the gentleness of morning, greet your silent passage through endless waters...
(or one in particular............)
