Default Becky Mason coaching at Castle Semple Loch (April 20th & 22nd)

I have been in contact with Becky Mason regarding her UK tour of coaching. I have booked a slot in her schedule to do some coaching at Castle Semple Loch.At the moment she is still finalising dates but it is going to be somewhere in the 19th to 29th of April range, probably during the week.

To get the most from this the plan is to have two hour coaching sessions. Probably a morning and afternoon one. An evening one could be added if the demand is there.

I am also hoping we may be able to arrange an evening event where Becky will give a slideshow / talk but this is not confirmed yet so I am not taking names.

The cost of this is very reasonable. The cost per person for a 2 hour training session will be about £20 each. This is based on a group size of 6. We probably need 9 to make this work but I do not foresee any problems getting this number so have confirmed the booking and guaranteed the fee. If no one wants training I will take Becky on a trip to see the wallabies on Loch Lomond

The price is based on you supplying your own canoe and equipment but I suspect that Willie can arrange the use of kit from the visitor centre but there will probably be a fee for this.

For more information Becky posted a little about the trip here

    http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/for...ubs-and-events

and you find out more about Becky here

    http://www.redcanoes.ca/becky/canoe/index.html

I would also strongly recommend seeing Becky's Solo canoeing DVD but you already have a copy of that, right

So If you are interested please add your name to the list below. In the event of us being oversubscribed the offers of places will be on the basis of the order on the list. Also this is for the coaching only. I will post details of any evening event separately

    1) MagiKelly

PS I am also making this thread a sticky, because I can

Yes it does seem a good deal. We just got the same rates as everyone else I think so the other clubs had already negotiated the rate down for me. As it is I expect we will be able to pay her a bit more than she has asked for as the takeup has been so good.

I am not making any money on this and all money paid will go to Becky (less any hire costs for the hall in the evening or the like)

Given the response and considering this has only been listed for a day i may ask Becky if there is a chance of her doing two days.

I have had an email from Becky confirming that she can manage 2 classes in a day with up to 10 people in each class. So for a day we can manage 20. And we can look at extra days depending on demand.

I have amended the price quoted to about £20 per person. Becky does not want to be tied exactly to the price at this point as she is still working out prices for car hire, accommodation, how many events she can fit in and all the rest. That said I am hopeful the price will remain at the level I initially indicated.

This is still provisional but the latest plan
On offer: April 21 - morning intermediate session and afternoon advanced session
On offer: April 22 - morning intermediate session and slideshow in the evening
Ratio: Reid and Becky teach up to a max. of 8 students per session.
Course Fee: £30 for one session of two hours per person

The reason for the increase in cost is the class sizes have been reduced to 6 - 8 to give better tuition and stop Becky getting frazzled

Here is a link to Becky's tour page with details of price and courses.

    http://www.redcanoes.ca/becky/canoe/uktour.html

At the moment this means we will only have 18 places available and these would go to the first 18 from the list to take up the option, however, there is a chance that Inverness may drop of the list and if this did happen then we would take the extra day/s and places.

    Default Becky Mason coaching

As I've said elsewhere I'd love to paddle if there are any places left. Many Thanks, ATB, Chas. P.S. Either day, any time.

Okay Becky has now updated her page

    http://www.redcanoes.ca/becky/canoe/uktour.html

So on the 20th there will be two classes one morning and one afternoon and at night a slideshow. Nothing on the 21st and two classes and a slideshow on the 22nd.

So all told places for 24 for lessons at £30 per person for a two hour lesson. Costs for the slideshow have still to be confirmed

    Default If

If I can be accommodated, as 22nd member on the list, I can attend any day. I would class myself as advanced on flatwater but intermediate for flatwater freestyle. I'm not sure what Becky is teaching but it is worth a go.

Let me know how likely I am to getting a place?

    Doug.

So we have 30 names and 24 places. The top 24 have first refusal. I epect at least some will drop out due to clashes of dates etc so would think almost everyone on the list will have the opertunity.

Can you copy the list and add what day and what class you prefer as I have done or a not is you can't take a place. Once everyone has made there choice I will try and see if we can accomate everyone's wishes or what juggling of places needs doing.

    They're all after the 19th. It's 20th or 22nd.

Camping is available locally at Barnbrock Farm,

    http://www.clydemuirshiel.co.uk/Barnbrock.aspx

Although a couple of miles from the visitor centre it is part of the same park infrastructure. If booking with them let them know it is for the Becky visit as it helps SotP reputation to be bringing them in business which can only help for future events.

We need to start a list for the Slideshows. These will be from 7-9pm in the evenings. We can take a maximum of 40 on each evening. Those with a class during the day get entry fro free but still need to put their name down to have a confirmed place. For those not doing the course there is a fee of £5.

I think Becky will have copies of her DVD on sale as well as the new This is Canoeing DVD. There should be tea and coffee available to buy as well.

So the List for the Slideshow

    Tuesday the 20th April.
