Default Group Buy: Hennessy Hex Fly $47.96

Details below. I've been quoted $47.96 for a group buy which according to my untrustworthy on-line converter works out at 23.52 (the price in sterling is just a guide and not the actual price).
The tarps are direct from Hennessy but they have some stored in London so we won't have to pay customs and the postage will be a lot less. I don't know how much it will be until I know numbers. If you would like one pop your name below in a cumulative list thingy. According to my calculations it should cost 33 including delivery to you.

    70D
"HEX"-SHAPED PU-COATED POLYESTER RIPSTOP RAIN FLY
Size: 132"x 120" hexagonal shape Weight: 1 lb. 9oz , 700 g. This fly comes standard on the new Safari Deluxe but will provide generous protection from wind and rain for any model.

I'm interested. Do you know if it is the same sort of thing as silicon nylon and what the pack size is?
the reason I ask is that I already have a couple of good tarps (one small and one XL) but am looking for one which is big yet has a small pack size.

I'm not sure about packing size, I'll send them an e-mail. Usually takes 24 hours for a reply

Some more info from the site:

'Tom has responded with our new "hex" fly, a double-wide, 10' x 12' PU-coated polyester tarp with 6 tie-out points for maximum flexibility in positioning. This fly is carefully detailed with factory seam sealing and pockets for stowing tie out cords. Because of the innovative hexagonal shape, the "Hex Fly" can be used with any hammock model from the Safari Deluxe to the Original. The hex fly can be pulled down all the way to the ground around the hammock for protection during storms or spread out to provide a 120 sq. ft. sunshade. It can also be pitched between two hammocks to provide a work or cooking marquee. Our dark green PU coated polyester hex fly weighs in at 1.9 lbs with a regular price of $59 US.'

Also they do a lighter one which is 103:
30D "HEX"-SHAPED SILNYLON RIPSTOP RAIN FLY
Size: 144" x 132" hexagonal shape Weight: 19 oz. This lighter weight hex fly can be substituted for the regular silicone fly of the Ultralight Backpacker Asym, Explorer Ultralight Asym, Explorer Deluxe Asym or Safari for the difference in price.

But from what Ive seen thats really flimsy material

From here, BCUK and my friend theres 10 people already interested, so if they all go ahead that would make the postage around 8 (I think). Thats including the postage from London as its only $50 regardless of the size of the order. But its early days yet and that price will drop if more people are interested.

Just got an e-mail off HH apparently they are 10" x 4" when rolled up but they do not fit inside a snake skin.
You sure you still want one Charlie?

One for me please, and thanks for organising!

P.S. Charlie - I made my own er, "legless reptile covers" (got to watch out for copyright! ), and they're pretty straightforward. PM me if you want me to do the same for you, as I'm sure we can work something out.

I was thinking of making some reptile skins for myself out of some old waterproof trousers. Not quite long enough to cover the entire thing but I'm not sure thats important

I've worked it out and there's enough people wanting one for it to definitely cost 33 delivered to you via recorded first class, hopefully less but I need to buy some packaging too.

When do you expect to put the order together, and how do you want to sort out payment?

I'll make the order a week today 12/12/07. I'll accept any payment, Paypal, cheque, bank transfer, beer etc. I'll PM people details when I've put the order through. I don't want to start taking money before I order and then realise I've added it up wrong (even though I've checked it about 5 times).

Thanks for adding Nigel too Twisted Firestarter.

Do you know how much paypal fees are MagiKelly? Are they a percentage? Its so difficult to know how much to charge, I've never done this before. I don't want to end up trying to pay everyone back or ask for more if I get it slightly wrong, it all adds up with so many people.

Paypal take a transaction charge of 0.20 on every payment regardless of the amount and then 3.6% of the value (might be 3.4%). If you have a look about the paypal site it lists the costs.

Thankyou! I've only used paypal tp buy things so far Right so I'm going to have to add 1.40 for Paypal fees I'm afraid. I'll accept cheques and would welcome bank transfer as it means its quicker and obviously the 1.40 doesn't apply for either of those.

Just seen this thread and would loved to have bought one of these tarps at this price as I have a hennessey hammock. If for some reason anyone changes their minds then I would be happy to buy one of you for the price quoted.

Oh I'd just like to add, I arranged exactly twice as many Hex for the BCUK forum and they all paid straight away with no problem what so ever. You lot on the other hand seem to be a bunch of procrastinating forgetfuls! I can't talk though I managed to get my own post code wrong.
