    Default Home made raised firebox

    Below is my own home made raised firebox, after reading posts on BCUK concerning firepits, decided on Friday to have a go at making a raised firebox........

    Tried it later that day - went like a train!
    It is not that I object to the work, mind you; I like work: it fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours.

    Looks like a well neat fire-box Soloman.
    Will you be putting a more detailed tutorial on here?

    Thats one deluxe firebox! Lovely, well done. Don't suppose you have any plans lying around you could show us do you? How much does it weigh?

    Thanks for the intrest.Ill post more details when ive time but its realy basic cutting and fitting,however the use of stainless steel makes it a little bit harder but carbon steal will work just as well.

    nice looking stove... good in stainless.
    Working on one very similar but not so pretty cos i am making test box in mild steel. ......................well done
    love alot, trust a few but always paddle your own canoe

    Thanks guys.As i said ive been thinking about building one for a while.
    I have to admit i was a sheet metalworker to trade and have a tig welder,but dont let that put anyone off trying to put one together, im trying to think of ways round the welding.
    it weighs about 2.5 kg so not a rucksack item but will last forever.
    It took about 7hrs to make on and off as time allowed.
