    Default Midges and midge forecasts

I use the weather forecast site, metcheck.com, and was intrigued this morning to find www.midgeforecast.co.uk, which led me to having a read of www.albawest.com/midges. I gather that in Antartica, their Scottish cousins are the largest native land animal, apparently Antartica wins the prizes for being the coldest, windiest and driest part of the Earth. In the Himalayas, the midge is found upto 14,000 feet on Everest. I guess when most of life has next been super freezed or super heated into extinction, the female midge will be still be biting itself to get the nourishment for its first hatch of baby midges. Can't help but have respect for the little fellas, especially as they rarely get the chance to bite me!
