Upper and lower Lough McNean are connected by the river Tuam which is only about half a mile long. Lower Lough McNean is the source of the Arnie River which flows into the Erne system.
Gortatole is an outdoor center on the southern shore of the lough.

There is a really good camp site on the Upper lough called Rushin House Caravan park which has access to the lough and really good camping facilities.

Should be, I had intended to do it with Goatieboater a few years back but the weather was against us. The river burst its banks and we couldn't get under the bridges.
I'd be up for having another go though.
