Not sure about permission issues for canoeing on this lough - it is owned by the RSPB and is a nature reserve with birdwatching hides.
I did a fish survey of it last summer - I put a small boat in at the 'Tunny Cut' - a very narrow (about 8 or 10' wide) strip of water about 1 kilometre long connecting Portmore to Lough Neagh - I have never seen as many kingfishers in my life as when going down the Tunny Cut into Portmore Lough - my favourite birds..!!
