Ok, this is a kinda social thing I guess.

This event has been running for a few years now, and it's a fairly amusing spectacle. As of tonight, it seems that I may end up crewing one of these this year.

It's a charity race, the money goes jointly to the RLNI and the Chernobyl Children's Charity.

Here's the write up, cut and pasted from the website:

"Come and witness the spectacle of Europe's largest canoes racing down a creek of the Dart. Competition can be fierce and the pace furious as up to 10 crew try to beat their opponents using only paddle power. Races start at 5pm on the Maltsters Arms Quay, Tuckenhay."
These boats are pretty big, we see them fairly often out on the river taking groups of people out and about. More about the boats can be found here - canoeadventures.co.uk.

The event runs from 1700 on Saturday the 13th of May, (and typically - that's the same weekend as the Exeter knife show).
