Interesting little paddle. You'll need a day permit, which can be obtain from 'Dale View Hotel', just between Buttermere & Crummock Water, (Approx. 5). In a kayak, it's a 5min paddle end to end, in a canoe, about 10mins. Lovely scenery and quiet, if oh so short. Good paddle from Crummock Water, up the dubs, do Buttermere and return the same way.

Winter time is better for this, as a path through the trees can be seen more easliy. However, as of the '06/'07 winter, a tree now blocks the path and portage would only be possible on farmland, with no legal right of way.

Default Stream between Buttermere & Crummock

Does anyone know if the stream between Buttermere & Crummock Water is paddle-able?
