Default Derwent Reservoir (North East England)

Derwent Reservoir is a reservoir on the River Derwent, on the border between County Durham and Northumberland, in England. It is west of Consett.

The reservoir is an integral part of the water supply network in North East England, owned and managed by Northumbrian Water. It is the principal supply source for water to the Tyne and Wear metropolitan area.

The flow of the River Derwent, can be supplemented, when necessary, by a pipeline from the much larger Kielder Reservoir in Northumberland. However this cannot top up the reservoir itself

Unless someone else knows to the contrary there is no canoe access to this reservoir. Access points at the adjacent picnic sites/car parks have no canoeing signs.

There is sailing access at the sailing club and fishing is very popular. make of that what you will.
