Default How to join a Waterman 15 made in 2 halves?

Years ago I made a Waterman 15'6 in 2 halves for ease of storage and transport. Bolted together nicely. I now want to permanently join the 2 halves together. Cutting out the bolting bulkheads and reinforcement will reduce the overall weight & make transport easier. Advice on how to join the 2 halves together appreciated? I guess the simple solution would be just epoxy an overlap of new ply over the join on the inside, replace the gunwales, keel etc for some longitudinal strength.

I'd agree that's probably the best way forward. I think I'd add fibreglass on the outside.

Perhaps bolt it together first for alignment and then cut out alternative sections of flange and replace those before continuing with the rest?

I'm toying with the idea of a segmental canoe. What does the join look like and in hindsight would you do anything different ?
