    Default Testing tapatalk

I've avoided tapatalk up to now, but was wondering if it might be a way to avoid having to host my photos elsewhere. Flickr is doing my head in right now, and don't get me started about Photobucket.

So here goes with a photo to see how I get on.

Only when the last tree has died
and the last river been poisoned
and the last fish been caught
will we realise we cannot eat money.

Okay, that fixed it. I need to do a return after the text to sort that one.

Don't mind me as I ramble on to myself. lol

Does anyone know if you can do away with the text saying where I posted it from?

Hi Big Al, I’ve been using Tapatalk for my bloggs for the last couple of years. I’m reasonably happy with it. I don’t have a computer, but just use my iPad. My only problem is that I don’t know how to save an article before it’s finished; I have to set aside a few hours and try to do it in a oner which always results in more photos and less text as I get tired! Maybe not a bad thing! I’m not sure how to get rid of the extra text you mentioned. It’s not bothered me but you could try deleting it with an edit if it’s a problem.

Go to the tapatalk front page and go to settings. Then onto signature and it will show options for all forums you use. Click on SOTP and you will see your current signature, either change it or turn it off.

Remembering the Photobucket debacle, what do Tapatalk say about the permanence of their hosting service?

Good point. I haven't looked at that yet.

It's looking like having your own domain and hosting your own photos might be the best answer. I wonder how much that costs?

I do that. The domain is about 10/year and the hosting is 24/yr for 500Mb (which is enough if you resize the photos before uploading). I use wiserhosting.com, a small but helpful outfit, but there are many others. The benefit is that the path to your pictures is through your domain, so even if you change hosts you can still reload the photos to same path and don't have to edit the blog.

That sounds perfect. It's a lot less than what I'm paying at the moment.

I don't quite get this, I pay about that for 1TB on Flickr, and have no problems with it?

If you look at the code the Tapatalk pictures are actually hosted on Flickr. The Tapatalk app really does make adding pictures so much easier. It is what I would like to replicate on here but it is so much more difficult outside an app. With an app the pictures can be resized then uploaded. In the browser, if we get it working, you still need to upload the full resolution image for the server to then resize, host and display in the thread.

Currently if you resize your pictures to be less than 1000 pixels wide and less than 300kb in size you can just add them natively to a post. The hard part we are working on is being able to resize them for you when uploaded.

That may have changed. The ones Al has loaded in this thread are on http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com
