    Default Yoke pad

Just spent the morning making a yoke pad out of some foam matting double-sided sticky tape bicycle handlebar tape and stainless screws / washers

Nice idea, though if I'm honest, I'd be worried the bar tape would rub on my neck/shoulders when wearing thin shirts or in a T-shirt when it tends to be on the skin.

For what its worth, I've just picked a detachable pad from Norfolk Marine for 18. Well I had to buy something when I noticed it was 300 yards from the hotel I was staying in...

Interesting, but I hope the boat isn't too heavy and that you don't have to carry it very far - there's not much padding there. I gave up on actual yoke pads (having tried God-knows how many kinds...) some years ago. Even though I have an ultralight kevlar boat nowadays, I still swear by these really effective, totally comfy Boundary Waters shoulder pads. Not expensive - about 25 UK Pounds.
