Default Anywhere to canoe near Builth Wells?

    Hi All
Weíre going to spend three nights down Builth Wells, and have had a little look on google maps of places suitable to Canadian Canoe, trouble is when looking at the maps I canít tell if a little stream is deep enough to Canoe.
Any help much appreciated if anyone can recommend somewhere to get my canoe in, or even a lake that allows canoes.
    Thanks in advance
    Bill

I haven't been there myself although there seems to be quite a few entries on paddlepoints in that area

The Wye itself can be good - depending on your skill and confidence levels. I've used Builth both as put in and get out.

Otherwise a trip to Llangors Lake perhaps? They do charge to put in but its very canoe friendly.

Glasbury down to Witney toll bridge is a lovely full days paddle on the Wye. I think you need to pay at the toll bridge campsite for launching.

It can be too shallow around builth in the summer (it was last August anyway).

The Wye down from Builth involves some proper whitewater. If you're not happy on grade 2-3, Glasbury down is lovely as above.

The canal near Brecon is very rural and tranquil.
