Thread: 13ft Western Cedar Canoe

  1. #1

    Default 13ft Western Cedar Canoe

Western Red Cedar made as a monocoque i.e. with a skin of Canadian fine weave fibreglass cloth inside and out, impregnated with resin then sanded and finished with a varnish to protect the fibreglass from the effects of sunlight. As with all monocoque construction it is amazingly strong for its weight. Apart from the main hull the gunwales stem and stern are ash as are handles etc. There is a bit of cherry in the bow and stern deck. The seats are ash with reindeer strips for the lattice work and the leather seat came from Nova Scotia, handmade by Tom Seavey.
This beautiful canoe is 13ft long and weighs 24.4 kilos. This is a stunning example and has been carefully handcrafted, never used and comes with 2 x Grey Owl Paddles. It has been stored inside. Please feel free to ask any questions or come and take a look
