On the Grand Descent, the great task is to fit into the masses so that those in front won't impede you, and those behind will not force their way through your ranks. Have a good time.

Cheers Peter - we have some nicely honed Liffey barging skills that will hopefully set us in good stead. Suspect we'll just go with the flow and enjoy the experience - more holiday than race.

Great to meet up if you make it.

We've gone for a Luxury Lodge Tent at Gervanne, for the 4 nights 18th-22nd - as that looks to have ample space (12 shaded seats) to host guests and visitors if friends old or new do want to pop round for a glass or two of the red (or white) stuff.

One day I'll make this, but always have other plans for Easter. Until the 2 coincide, it'll be Pirate Raids in the Highlands again...

Suspect that we might end up meeting up before the OCF anyway.

On my one trip to the festival, I found the mini trips with shuttles and a workshop with Blue great fun, and very useful, as I was in my "I, too, can be an OC1 God" period of delusion. The opportunity to test paddle some "contenders" for future boats on an extended test with shuttle introduced me to the Pocket Canyon and the Vertige, the latter later became my OC1 of choice. How ever, despite having a smattering of French, including some techno speak, I found that great Song of the Paddle accident, of descending unknown rapids, multi boats abreast, was wide spread on the Drome too. It was on the Grand Descent that this became really irksome, made really annoying when a French Inflatable, out of control, wiped me out just when the only French People I actually knew from elsewhere (fellow ski instructors of my son) had just caught me up. I have not returned to the Festival, though I have to the Drome, because I felt that nothing could possibly be better than that first trip.

I deffo empathise with this - its how I feel about last years Tiber trip. Maybe I'll get to do it again, but as a very different fly/paddle sort of thing just so the original remains a 'once in a lifetime' memory.

    You going soft!
Absolutely - its why I can only manage the one Burns night in a tent at the end of Jan. We've some plans in the making to keep ourselves busy for a few days preceding the OCF that will involve tentage, and the chalet idea kinda appealed for the more 'holiday/chillax' aspects - as we'll as providing social hosting opportunities. Anyway hope you find treasure!

Suspect that we might end up meeting up before the OCF anyway.
Methinks that's an oxymoronic deffo possibility... probably.

Hmmm - I suspect the Pirates would have a truly wonderful time exploring the Vercors Plateau (walks, climbs, via ferrata, etc.) and at the OCF (in and out of boats) - Tobey is certainly now old enough to really appreciate what's on offer

Well not long now - just in case anyone else is popping along to the OCF/Drome - we've kinda moved accommodation - we're still on Gervanne Camping site, but one with 3 rooms (snoring being a primary concern). Hopefully there will be room in the trailer for a Quentin board, and if we're around we'll keep doors open and welcoming, so please drop on by and say hi.

I’ll search you out ... you can run but you can’t hide and I’m aiming to destroy Bren’s stocks of Malibu
