Ok so here is the location of the field we'll be camping on
Old London Rd. West Drayton. The post code DN22 0QX will get you within a hundred yards or so.
The entrance to the field is immediately next to the small bridge over the river Maun. Left side of London rd. If you are coming from the A1 There will be a sign at the field entrance.

    [/IMG]
I will be there early Friday afternoon...……...with the kettle on.
If anyone gets there before me can I ask you to hold off on pitching your tent until we pick the site for the big scout tent in which we'll be showing the films......pretty please...…..it will probably be at the end of the field furthest away from the road.
Look forward to seeing you all there.
The list of finalists will be posted sometime this week

Just in case anyone has an allergy it is either a Raspberry or Cherry .... I did think of maybe doing a couple with SPAM, but figured I'd most likely end up with drinks poured over my head.

We should be onsite sometime Fri afternoon (time prob being a bit weather dependent).

If I remember I'll bring some Quentin boards to mark the entrance...

I'm looking forward to it - managed to dodge taxiing and got Friday afternoon off too so should be there mid afternoon.

Is there a short list of films yet and is there anything needed that I/we can bring?

So here's wot I laughingly refer to as the "Programme" for the weekend.

Friday ………Tent erection and drinking probably.

Saturday morning Shuttle cars to the get out.
Aiming to be on the river for 10......ish

Saturday Evening the film final and voting...……..hot dogs, pop and popcorn to be provided …...naturally...…... looking to start 7pm...…...ish
The rest of Saturday night might be a little more drinking/bonfire/cat strangling

Sunday for those that survive the Saturday. A breakfast Cob and Tea/Coffee (that's a roll to you southerners) at King William Pub Scaftworth and a short 4 miles or so paddle down to Misson this is planned with a 12 start for those who like a lie in ….after the Saturday.

Sunday night for those staying on ………..sort yourselves out

Looks like a busy weekend and as 15th December is a no from us ( sorry for those excpecting Santa and his helper to have a swim) But having pursuaded Angela that the concert is Sunday night and it wont take us 2 days to get ready, we may well be joining you. just trying to work out logistics for getting the boat out of lock up, or if the campsite allows could come in the motorhome Friday night and leave Sunday morning. Will Di and Jax allow us on, is the ground good?

Will Saturday lunch be in the Park at Retford?

Assuming a 10am launch is there or thereabouts, what ETA would you estimate? I'd like to have a warming drink ready for you!

Later: looking like I can't be at the park, but will pop in during the evening.

    Very kind offer Tykey.
Sounds like a plan, I'm guessing we'll get there for 12.30-1pm. Could be breezy!

Looking forward to this, despite my test night in my new shelter being a complete failure!

I've just been shopping for essentials.... Am I doing it right?

I'm cooking and packing. Sorted most of my gear.

    I hope to arrive about 4pm .

See ya, when I arrive. Or when you arrive.

More shopping to do for beverages.

This was an amazing weekend, thanks to Bren, ably supported by Jules and Cankay
Bren very generously provided us with all sorts of treats and Jules/Jon sorted out the tent, decorations, and whatever else there was in the trailer.
Thanks also to Di and Jax for use of the field.

Another commendable effort, thanks very much to all involved, especially Bren, John and Jules labouring away to set up the North East's answer to Cannes and Di and Jax for their rather splendid provision of base camp. Great paddlin', great company, u̶p̶l̶i̶f̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ music!

Gutted I had to drop out early, nice little 24hr bug there :-/ I mean I did have some of Ken's cooking and then had to go home feeling rough....
(Only kidding, I would recommend Ken's big sausage to everyone, thoroughly satisfying.)

Thanks again to all, your efforts are appreciated!

Brown sauce, red sauce, or no sauce at all? (R5 Danny Baker reference...)

Hmm, somehow my lengthy earlier reply to thank everybody, and take the mick a little, seems to have never posted. I can't really remember what I said, but will attempt to include most of it when I get round to the blog, which should be a day or two away. What is needed, is a thank you to Bren, Jon, Juliet, Di and Jax for their large parts in making this such a great event. ANd thanks to everybody who turned up, and everybody who entered the competition.

    Congratulations, of course, to Doug.

Very much agree with what everyone else has said.
Many many thanks to all the Idle Beggars for staging a wonderful weekend (and getting the rain to stay away) and to everyone else for the great company.

A very big thank you to Bren, Jon, Juliet, Di and Jax for organising a great weekend, it was really nice to meet so many more paddlers. It was another trip of firsts as well as we had never run a weir before Saturday and definitely now want more (I'm not entirely sure if that's a good thing or not) and can add the Idle to a slowly growing list of rivers we have paddled on. Well done to Doug in the film competition and lastly a big thank you to everyone for making us feel welcome and making it a very enjoyable weekend of paddling and late nights round the fire.
