Oh! well here goes. Some people call it canoeing.

    I've gone and done it!

If disqualified because of using a sea-kK, then I've only myself to blame.

Hope you enjoy my memories and all the wildlife too.

Thank you all for the entries I enjoyed every one of them......even crows ...…....….the academy is now busy selecting the finalists for the Hallowscreen night and I'll publish a list of finalists when we know who they are.
Thanks once again for supporting the competition.

Firstly can I thank the academy who had the difficult task of whittling down the 30 or so entries to be premiered at the Hallowscreen Meet. The difficultly wasn't watching so many excellent entries but in deciding which should make the final.
And I'd like to thank all the film makers. It takes huge effort to put these films together (except crow obviously ) and everyone who has seen them will, I'm sure have appreciated your efforts. But whittle them down we did.

    Sooooooo…………….drum roll

The finalists will be (in no particular order)

    The Kids are Alright
    by Bobt
    Algonquin by Dougoutcanoe
    Rogen to Roros by MarkL
River Dee March 2018 by Saarlak
    Dee October 2017 by Broadsman
    Winter is Here by Saarlak
    The Ardnamurchan by Veletron
The Three Lakes Challenge by Darren1 & Toby
    Burton upon Trent by Trigger69
    Tiber Descent preview by Cankay
Island Wild Camp Lake District by Arma
    Park and Play by Tim
A Heart that Beats by Bobt

13 finalists well it is Halloween
Congratulations to all who made the final

The final takes place on the 3rd November at West Drayton at the Hallowscreen do

Plenty of space available if anyone would like to attend

Well chuffed with two videos nominated, thank you academy members.

It seemed like all killer and no filler with this years entries, so well done for whittling it down.

Do you still want original copies sent over Bren or has it got too late for that?

I won't be able to make Hallowscreen, so could someone do me a favour. As the winner is announced, could someone do their best Kanye West impression and leap on stage shouting that Crow should have won for having the wobbliest bottom.

Agreed Saarlak, some great films the judges had real difficulty in narrowing down the finalists. Just to let you and everyone else know the films have all been downloaded in the highest quality allowed from you tube or vimeo, for most this is 1080p (and a few 720) which is the highest res my projector can play. Most people will only see the videos online so we will be judging them on the night to the same standard as all the members see them. Good luck in the final!

Just a quick note to point out that the Video I submitted was "the Kids are STILL alright" which is a slightly different version to "The Kids are alright", both of which can be found on my youtube channel. TBH, I'm not overly concerned which one goes forwards but I just thought I'd mention it in case there was a protest

Both were great. If either win, I'm happy to accept the award on your behalf, on the understanding that you'll pay for the flight for me to deliver it to you, and lend me a canoe while I'm there....

Well done guys. I really enjoyed all the videos but especially Saarlaks Dee video. It looked pretty full on. Glad to see it got 3rd place. Thanks for organising Bren.

I feel a speech coming on!

Traditionally, in the Oscars, the winners thank directors, fellow actors, script writers and on and on and on.

To start the tradition for the Quentins:

I feel deeply indebted to the cast, all of whom I could not have done the video without.

Thank you ChrisB, Mountain Goat (Pete) and Mike.

The animal department for providing a lifelike moose and adding to the drama by it nearly taking out Pete's hammock and tarp.

Mike for putting up with the lack of black bears.

Thanks must also go to the cameraman (oops, that's me)(sorry)

Thanks to the editor (Oh, that's me again).

Thanks to youtube for hosting my video.

Scriptwriter and story teller must receive thanks. (Sorry, that's me again)

The weather men and women must receive thanks for providing sunny weather for 9 of the 10 days.

The 4 tea boys for continuing the traditional tea stops along the 100's of kilometres, namely Mike, Pete, Chris and Doug.

The Canadian Authorities for providing such an excellent location for our paddle.

Thank you Panasonic for the optics and digital imaging.

Films always have Gaffers, focus pullers, continuity departments, lighting and sound recorders. I must thank them all, although I don't know where they come into this effort.

It was with some regret that I cannot thank the make-up department, they didn't turn up, but I don't think they could do much with our ugly mugs (sorry Pete, Mike and Chris).

A special thanks is reserved for Mayo Bren, who dedicated a lot of time and more to the success of Hallowscreen. Thank you Bren.

This was a spooky hedgerow tree near my tent. Hoooooo!

Not quite so spooky in daylight.
