    Cool SOTP Video Competition

The SOTP Video Competition is now open

This year the competition is a bit different.
As usual entries can be made here, we will also accept video entries from the facebook group.
The SOTP film academy will select their favourite video's (once I've dusted them off) and the winners will be chosen by you!

Here comes the different bit........... this year the final vote will take place at a screening of all the finalists films at a weekend paddle/camp/film festival type event. The weekend has the working title of The SOTP Hallowscreen Doo which will be posted in the meets section in due course.
The venue has been generously offered by long time friends of SOTP Di & Jax (Thank you ladies) and is located in West Drayton Nottinghamshire, about 1/2 mile from the best launch point on the Idle. See meets section for more details. The film bit will take place on the Saturday night but camping will be available from the Friday until the Monday...........and the dates.........it's the weekend immediately following Halloween (hence the name)
    The 2nd - 5th of November.

So back to the film competition.
    The Rules
    1. You may nominate your own video or one that you like by another member with their permission.
    2. You can nominate one video a day.
    3. The video must be vaguely canoe/paddle/camping related.
    4. Please keep the video's shorter than 10 minutes if possible this is a guide rather than a rigid rule
    5. They must not have been entered in previous SOTP video competitions
    6. They must not be made by professional production companies.
    7. Preferably made during the previous 12 months

And this one is very important.........you must be willing for it to be played in public should it make the final. If you enter a film, permission to play it at the Hallowscreen Doo will be assumed to have been received. You can of course withdraw permission at any time, you are not giving up any rights to your property but if you are unwilling for it to be played at the festival please do not enter.
In addition .......any entry made on face book will be be linked on here. Again if you are not happy with this arrangement please do not enter.

Once the finalists have been selected a dropbox link will be provided so you can get your films to me in the format that best shows off your work.
PS please select a format that works with windows media player or VLC.
There will be prizes but surely the only motivation you need is The Quentin

Real solid gold paint......honestly!!!I'm looking forward to the enjoying the fruits of your labour

This Competition will close to entries in one Month........ on the 12th of August
    Good luck to all!

To fit in with the 10 min rule I submit my day 4 on the Tarn video.
This was a much quieter day with no whitewater antics, but it captures one of my favourite features while paddling on the Tarn, the "Magic Carpet" effect.
In places the river had a glassy smooth calm surface while flowing over gravel beds at about one foot deep. The speed of the conveyer flow was amazing, watching the gravel bottom wooshing past below, with no effort needed to make progress.
