Default First canoe build advice plz

Iv started building a little bateau iv got the plans for a selway
Prospector so wanted to build something to learn on first.
Im probably heaver than most lol and i was just wondering if i
Can make up another set of side panels to keep the canoe out of the water
A bit just a couple of inches higher.ill also br adding some bouancy tanks
Will it alter /mess with anything doing this stability etc.

You'll certainly alter the windage of the boat, with any more hull out of the water. In anything more than a breeze you'll run the risk of continually blowing off course, particularly on flat water.

Can I be cheeky, and enquire as to a ballpark weight? I'm 100 kilos and the rest of the family are in the region of another 150, and 5 up in my 17 ft cedar boat, we don't suffer from any overtopping. Of course this might change as the kids grow.

What's the stated capacity of the SF prospector? Iirc people use it as a family boat, so you oughtn't have any problems.

Enjoy the build, and keep us updated

As long as the seats don't rise accordingly, the stability won't really change.
But since a 'Prospector' is already a deep canoe by design,
if it isn't dry enough for you, it is probably better to build a foot longer one
    and not a deeper version.
It will paddle much better then.
