    Default Launch at Oakenholt Flint

Is there a place to launch canoes onto The Dee estuary near Oakenholt?

I'm also interested in finding a launch point in that general area. I can't see anything at Oakenholt itself, the nearest looks like Flint Castle, there's a car park and lifeboat station, which suggests launching a RIB is possible. At most states of the tide, however, it will be a muddy walk to the water.

Going upstream to Connah's Quay looks a possible at most stages of tide.

If you go back up the A548 to the Connahs Quay power station junction there’s a lane, first exit at the second roundabout, that leads off to the water and what looks like a gravel car park. Actually it’s directly opposite Oakenholt. The reason you can’t get there directly is the railway line of course.

I spotted that, Mark, but that exit off the roundabout has No Entry signs and a barrier. Google streetview doesn't go past the roundabout, which implies it's not public access.
