    Default TuffStuff

I have a Nova Craft Pal in TuffStuff. I was advised when I bought it that it was unwise to drill composite materials because it could impact the integrity of the canoe and abrade the rope laced through it. Has anyone laced a tuffstuff boat and if so have you experienced any problems?

oops...! 4 years ago, boat seems fine... This is not tuffstuff...

May be a warranty issue or something. Do NC not still drill a hole a the front of the boat for a wee ring bolt thingy or do they not do that any more?? I think if you go mad it could compromise the structure but... Also see this thread which says it's fine....

    Cheers,

Fitting "open rubber grommets" to the holes could stop chaffing.

I champfered mine, then cut/flamed it to get rid of the fibres then superglued/epoxied to smooth and seal them.

One could be driven to insanity worrying about this stuff.

I also applied a blob of resin to the drill holes, the lacing system seems essential (despite also using an industrial velcro for the spray cover)

Hmm. That's sort of encouraging. I was going to say 'I might have a go', but really you either do it or don;t bother. I'll think about it some more. Thanks for the replies.
