    Default Ashley Book of Knots

Anyone with an interest in knots, bends, hitches, splicing, whipping, decorative ropework etc. will love this book:

    THE ASHLEY BOOK OF KNOTS.
    Author: Clifford W. Ashley.
First published: 1944 and reprinted regularly since then.

This is what is printed on the front of the dust cover of my 1960 edition:-

'Every practical knot, what it looks like, who uses it, where it comes from and how to tie it. With 7000 drawings representing over 3800 knots'.

I can't add more to that. It's probably the most comprehensive book ever published on the subject of ropework.

A big, heavy, hardback book, with a price to match! Even expensive second-hand. Probably one for that birthday and Christmas 'wish list'.

At the back of the book is a good glossary of terms, a very interesting bibliography and an excellent index.

    Nick

Neris Valkure - 1. Folding kayak.
    Gumotex N 1. Inflatable kayak.
