I've done one or two locally, evening paddle to watch the sun down on Mid Summer's Day. Never quite managed to get up for the sunrise though!

I suggest you suggest one at a place of your choosing!

    Mal,

I was thinking more of a camp on Mid Summers Eve, similar to "Up the Kibar" & Burns night. I'll have a jook at the maps.

    Anyone else, any ideas.

Definitely interested, though if its a work night, it might limit the numbers.

As Mal says, you might get more takers for the Saturday night though.

Well, thing happen for a reason....

Just found Dick Patterdale Info on the River Nene and FotRN,

River Nene places to Park Launch Camp amp Shuttle 2018.

This is looking like a possible site for a Mid Summer Night meet?

    A Mid Summers Night Meet?

"Lord, what fools these mortals be!..." as the Bard himself may have replied to this one, had he had the chance.... and of course a canoe!

As per Hemlock above, I'm off that weekend in question and now very much interested....

Having recently just bought some new 'Black Iron' that could do with a run out!

Did somebody just mention beer and fire?

Looking forward now to the Devil in the Detail!

I'm still looking for camping ground.
I did look at FotRN, but the requirements and the fact that they're more leaning towards boaters (in the summer) puts them out of the running.

If you find you're running low on options, I can ask Colin if the field is available at Barrow?. Camping cost is usually 1 night per person. Big enough for 20ish peeps. Central(ish). Grade 0(ish) options to 2 days of loops. Plenty of blogs/photos on SOTP.

Just to throw a spanner in the works. That is the weekend of the York Canoe race. There is free camping at the race venue if you enter the race. There will be a few members (including myself) having a go that weekend. There are trees suitable for hammocks too.

    Just a thought.

The Yorkshire and Canoe parts of that sound OK but I'm not sure about the Race bit.
I was thinking more of a little gentle drifting downstream and a lot of campfire and beer.
Barrow sounds alright to me if Peartree Island on the Nene is too busy.

Yeah racing sounds a bit too energetic. Up for a more recreational paddle.

    Simms,

Just come up with a venue, and I'll do my best to come up with (at least) a half-decent menu!

    Chef Bonar.
Presently now burning beans for Britain!

    Ladies & Gentlemen,

Working shifts is a pain :-(

There seems to be nowhere on the Nene, FotRN are more geared to boaters during the summer.

Jon (cankay.org.uk) surgested Barrow upon Soar, used for The Biggish-Meet-2017, last year. This looks good and if there is interest, i'll contact the relevant parties tomorrow.

Did the alleged Kremlin hackers just get me!

    I'll try this one again...

Afghan Lamb Kebabs or Curry Goat Rice 'n' Beans!

For me now there will be a few more sleepless nights, whilst you guys confirm a suitable location, as I now decide upon the final menu... whilst keeping all my door handles well washed down!

    Guys and Girls

I have booked The field at Barrow Upon Soar for the weekend 22 - 24 June 2018 for the SotP Midsummer "get together".

Camping fees are 1 per night.

With the kind help of Jon (cankay.org.uk) the site and location can be found here

So, lets start the list ....
