Default Photo Scavenger Hunt: August 2017

OK, summer is here and my life is busy. I'm off on holiday next week (not that I'm sure a week in a caravan babysitting my sister's kids is really a holiday). I need a rest.

So this months subject is, Relaxing.

There are some rules which must be obeyed. I have no idea what they are.

I didn't have someone there to take the photo, but I was relaxing in the middle of Loch Lochy after a hard paddle into the wind.

    Pic not showing here, Bernie.

I just get a no entry sign.

Thanks for the insight. I've added it to a shared album now; I think that's what's needed to make it public.

    My kind of relaxing..!

The moment between getting to the start of an epic portage (in this case a distance of 1200 metres, but as yet uncut) and actually beginning it..!

Wawagigamau River, Northern Ontario, Canada - May 2017.
First recreational canoe trip to take place down this river since 1983 and the first to access it without use of a float plane.

Love it! I presume you're not really suspended in that bush as it seems from photo!

    The Epitome of Relaxation....

No roadworks 'with nothing going on' here fellas!... No planned lane closures, with all crucial motorway exits now closed some 15-20 minutes before the time stated, sometime just after 2200hrs whilst all you're trying to do is just get home, and finish your shift!

I'll just be so glad when I get to this destination....traffic free!

Sanctuary, when I need it...and it's just a paddle away.... (Not a just shot away! )

    Dick,
Love the shot above from your latest adventure, and was very tempted earlier to ask if that was taken in the Dead Pool, or the I'm about to be born again resurrection suite!?
Whatever, it did make me laugh - brilliant!

The last 2 are linked from dropbox, so there may be privacy issues there I guess, but the first one is hosted in my blog site. Don't know if that makes a difference?

On that first picture, I right-clicked the little x, chose Properties, and copied the URL. I pasted that into a new browser tab, and got the photo. Then I went back to the post, right-clicked the x again, and clicked "show picture." Suddenly there it is, and it shows on all the quoted bits as well. Don't know why, just throwing some info into the mix.

I'm enjoying this, lots of lovely relaxing pictures. Picking a winner is going to be stressful.

As a little note, I'm going to be away from the internet until some time on Saturday, so you have until I switch on my computer on Saturday evening to post entries. (I don't know the rules and that seems suitably amorphous)

On a calm day the cave at the west side where the Seals hide can be relaxing when they come out and dive underneath you.

But there's that slightly uneasy sense of will there be a rogue swell from a passing tanker.

So, a winner... Lots of great entries, relaxing is obviously something the members of this forum are particularly skilled at, I'm struggling to narrow this down, so it's time to deploy the "any stupid, random excuse" method.

I could have gone with any of the lovely pictures of people's cute kids, but other people's cute kids are a large source of my stress, so they're all out.

I could have gone with any of Sk8r's pics, but even the one's that don't feature a cute dog, I know there's a cute dog nearby, and a cute, three legged cat has been a source of recent stress, so all animal or implied animal pictures are out.

I could have gone with any of the pictures of people relaxing with friends, but I have a grumpy, "I hate people" image I have to keep up, so pics with more than one person in them are out.

    I don't drink rum.

Mal and others tempted me with beautiful scenery, but you aren't fully relaxed if your eyes are open, so pictures that make me want to look at things are out!

Bonarmbj tempted me with pics that remind me of places I ran around as a kid, but that reminds me of the earlier cute kid exclusion, so they're out. (not that I was ever cute)

MattT tempted me with the "Is this really a holiday, am I really enjoying myself?" thing and the grumpy "stop spoiling my relax by taking photos" pic, but the topic was relaxing, not having fun being grumpy (even if it is the best kind of fun).

I was very tempted by the imaginary photo of bhofmann, it sounded great, but I think I'd get lynched for picking a photo that doesn't exist after all the random excuses I've used so far.

Anyone I've missed, there was a random excuse, but I forgot what it was, so you're out too.

Gordon and Pete, I wanted to make everyone feel good about participating regardless of the quality of their photographs, but I didn't have to. Everyone made a great effort, submitted excellent entries and made picking a winner really difficult. Any of these pictures could have won had I picked different random excuses. There are no losers in this thing we call a scavenger hunt, we are all winners just from taking part in a wonderful community. Except for you two losers. A k***k and a plank? "Oh look, Saarlak wants to feel relaxed, let's just annoy him". I'm not angry, I'm not even disappointed, I'm nauseous. You've let yourselves down, you've let the school down, you've let your families down and you've let the nation down. I suggest you think very hard about what you've done, then write a letter of apology to the Queen and hope that God can forgive you, because I'm not sure I can.*

The one picture I can't find an excuse to exclude is what I can only assume is a crime scene photograph from Patterdale Paddler. You know you're relaxing when it looks like someone murdered you and dumped your body in a puddle. So congratulations, you win. Your prize is the stress of picking the next topic.
