Thread: Which glue for a mast foot?

Default Which glue for a mast foot?

Being generally cack-handed I've been prevaricating about installing my sailing thwart and mast foot, but am now on the verge of getting on with it.

G Flex epoxy seems to be the adhesive of choice, but it appears to cost about 25-30. Given that I probably won't use it for anything else that seems like a lot of money just to stick a small piece of wood into my boat.

Would something less specialist like Wet Grab be OK? Or should I just bite the bullet and pay up?

I suppose that's quite a fundamental point! It's a wooden mast foot and a Royalex boat.

As my mast foot is a block of wood and will not flex and with the flexible nature of royal I used Evo-stick impact adhesive to glue a thin foam mat to the bottom of my mast foot and again to glue the foam to the bottom of my boat. So far the mast foot has stayed put and has been subjected to quite strong wind whilst the boat has been fairly heavily loaded
    Cheers
    Tim
