My son is an amateur hand-crafted knife maker working out of our garage at home. He has rudimentary equipment but has adapted stuff to suit his needs. He's made his own home forge and electro-chemical etching thingy. It's all waaaay over my head
Anyway, he presented me with his version of a "rescue knife" tonight and I think it's a work of art, but I am his dad after all !
Overall length is 7.5" with a blade length of 3.5". Blade is crafted from 01 Carbon tool steel and the scales (handle) are in olivewood. The sheath is kydex (spelling?). The lanyard is just a piece of string at the moment but will be a bit smarter eventually. This will be treasured and it's the sharpest thing after a surgeons scalpel if it ever needs to be used. Just got to remember that it has to be dried after use or it will oxidise.
