Default 6th/7th August in the South East?

Has anyone got anything canoeish/tentish/fireish planned for the weekend 6th-7th August in the South East?
That's my only weekend off in what seems like months.

Thinking maybe of a two day trip down the Medway from Tonbridge to Maidstone with an overnight stop at one of the free wildcamps on the way.
Or is that not advisable during the school holidays?

the Medway sounds good - I'd be interested

the Marlin camp site near Yalding might might be better than the Oak Wier/Stoneham Lock sites:

It turns out my better half informs me that I'm not as free that weekend as I thought.
I won't be able to get to Tonbridge until 1500.
Does that sound a reasonable time to set off to make it to Yalding in time to set up camp?

It's about 14k to Hampstead lock plus the portage and the bit round to the campsite.
How fast can you paddle :-) , it does not get dark very early yet.

That's four hours at my cruising speed so should make it safely before sunset

Right, there's a vague plan beginning to take shape.

Start from Tonbridge Castle Car Park at 1500 - the car park is free from 1800 on Saturday and all day Sunday so only 2.80 to pay.
If anyone else turns up we can sort a shuttle, if I'm on my own I'll do it by train.
Gentle pootle down to Yalding, getting there just before sunset (2035), tents up, fire lit, steaks grilled, etc.
Continue down to Allington on Sunday at a similarly gentle pace.

    Anyone else interested?

Unfortunately my hall pass has been rescinded so this trip will have to be postponed, possibly to a midweek as I have no weekends off for a while.

Sorry I missed your post about the vague plan.
Anyway I can do midweek with a bit of juggling.

That's a shame. Better luck next time.
