    Default Waveney June 11th

    Hi Everyone,

I'm going to be paddling the Demonstrator Egret from Homersfield Bridge in Suffolk to Bungay on the 11th June. There are a few portages around some mills, but these are all marked with landing platforms and this isn't a contentious stretch in terms of access. I think I will take my canoe trolley, although, probably not necessary if only caring day tripping gear.

I was thinking of meeting at the Homersfield car park at 10.00 and running the shuttles for a 10.30 start.

There is an excellent camping field at the Black Swan in Homersfield, if people fancy overnighting. I stayed there in 2014 with Dad.

Camping at the Pub is free if you eat there, and I think 10 if you don't. We could either finish at Outney Meadow or at the roaring arches car park. The roaring arches knocks off a bit of the Bungay loop and adds a certain ditchiness.

Please add yourselves to the list if you are interested in joining me.

It is 6 miles to the roaring arch car park and 9.5 miles to the riverside centre in bungay. There's free parking at either.

    The Riverside Centre
    The Staithe
    BUNGAY
    NR35 1BF

    73 Earsham Dam
    Bungay, Suffolk NR35 1DY

It's about 4 hours to roaring arch and more like 7 to the riverside centre.

Haha! No obligation to take the egret. I'm looking forward to taking it out today.

    Hi Everyone,

    Quick update.

I'm planning to canoe from Harleston to the Black Swan at Homersfield on the Friday evening and to camp at the Black Swan. My support vehicle is picking me up in Bungay around 6pm on Saturday. I can help with the shuttles on Saturday evening if required. The plan still remains for people to meet in homersfield at 10am and to be on the water and underway for 10.30am.

This is a really lovely paddle and all are welcome to come along.

I imagined a luxury motor home following you down river, offering all massages etc, bit like the Tour de France, you really mean your mrs is picking you up in a car,

Probably about 8.30. I was thinking of eating at the pub. What are your plans? There's a new cafe at the dove which I'm going to go to for breakfast. It's a 2 minute walk from the swan.

    Hi Geoff,

Sorry, I just saw your question. I'm planning to get to the put in between 4 and 5.30pm. My car is in the garage tomorrow, so the time is dependent on when I get the car back.

In order to camp at pub you should be caravan club members, but he will accept bcu membership, fetch your card or number
