Nottinghamshire County Council is currently consulting on it's mineral extraction strategy - http://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/pl...als-local-plan

We will submit a response to this - making a case for the social, economic and welbeing benefits of enabling access to any new waterbodies for paddlers. Too often the lakes and waters that emerge from such extraction end up restricted, often as wildlife reserves. We'll be keen to make the point that canoeing shouldn't detract from any wildlife/habitat uses, and if managed correctly can actually enhance people's engagement with their local wildlife.

We'd be keen to get any thoughts on this specific consultation - or hear about any others across the country. It may also be worth submitting your own responses, especially if you are local the area.
