    Perhaps I'm just old, cynical and wrong, but that whole scenario looked a little staged to me!

    I know some dogs are more intelligent than some humans, but I am not sure that even a Labrador has the mental capacity to see such a scene, feel such empathy for the two dogs in the canoe that he feels the need to go to their rescue, then devise, risk-assess and execute a strategy for doing so!

    As I said, I could be wrong!

    Seen that clip before - it's a training exercise isn't it? I always thought the owner/trainer was supervising from dry land.
