Default Latest Posts Column On Front Page

Is it just me or has the column of latest posts normally found on the left of the Main Site page dissappeared?
Or have these old eyes finally lost the plot?

I took it off as it kept making the page really long on narrow screens and I did not think. People were using it to make it worth the format issues. Actually I tend to think the front page of the site is hardly used but would be glad to hear otherwise. I'd also be willing to put the recent posts widget back if there was sufficient demand.

I like the idea of it being there as it keeps you informed of most recent posts . A

Don't you use the New Posts tab at the top right to find all the new posts?

I never use the Main Site homepage at all. 90% of my visits I just click on New Posts, as John says. Then again, I do visit quite often, so there's not too much to catch up on...

Didn't know that there was one on the main page. If truth were to be told I only see the main page when my sausage fingers touch the wrong part of the screen.

I almost always use the 'New Posts' button. I almost never visit the home page.

Thanks for that Gdd, unfortunately I had already booked those appointments.

The opticians couldn't fix the computer and the computer repairer couldn't fix me eyes!

Possibly a bit of an overhead, but a suggestion for the home page could be to update each month with the winner of the previous months photo comp? That said I'm a "New Posts" kinda person too.

Not wanting the Rest Of The World to be out of step with me, I have now changed my shortcut to "New Posts!"

I'd visit the main page if the photo changed every day......just a thought.

If I were setting up the site again the front page would be the forum and I'm not sure I would bother with the articles part. it can be handy for keeping reference articles but I worry that people read it and don't realise about the forum.
