These are a couple of video clips of sailing my Prospector 15 on the Quoile river in Northern Ireland.

the rig is more than twenty years old, built for my DD10 wooden boat and still used with it too.

Looks a nice place for sailing. Is the sail a lateen? Some pictures of the rig would be great to see.

Thanks, Greg and Gina, for bringing up the videos directly to the thread. I must learn what to do to make that happen.

Dave, I will take some clearer pictures of how this rig works soon. There`s a chance you remember years back, more than 15, I think, when my young son Daniel and I came over with this rig on our DD10 wooden boat to the OCSG events at Ullswater, Windermere and Loch Lomond. We used to travel over with Tyrone Currie and really enjoyed those sociable events. It is a home made sail, cut down from an old laser sail. Basically a lateen planned from John Bull`s book Sail Your Canoe, but with the front end of the spars loosely attached to the mast, to angle the yard and boom more steeply.

I will add here another video clip from you tube of my brother Steve and I sailing the prospector on Lough Corrib this summer.

I use the rig for touring and recreational sailing rather than speed and racing, and it all attaches to the boat without needing to modify the canoe in any permanent way. Thanks for your interest.

    All the best,

    Andy

Hi Andy - I thought I recognised the name and do remember you. Great to hear from you and that you are still very much out there doing it!

Hi Andy, I also have a vague memory, of you coming over with Tyrone. Hope we meet up again sometime
