Default The 2012 SotP Photo Competition.

Well we have had five fantastic photo competitions before

    http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/for...to-Competition

    http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/for...re-Competition

    http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/for...to-competition

    http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/for...to-Competition

    &

    http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/for...to-Competition

and it is time for the sixth.

Rules are simple. Post any pictures on this thread to enter them on the competition. You can post up to one entry per day during the whole of September (competition closed midnight on the 30th September 2012)
Now extended to midnight Tuesday the 2nd October

Pictures can have appeared in bloggs etc but should not have been entered in the previous competitions and they should be your own pictures or at least you should own the copyright. Entry into the competition does not give SotP any right over your photographs in any way so are not giving away any rights by entering.

As previous years a judge or judges will probably thin down the entries to 10, or 20, or so and a poll will be run to select a winner

The competition is open to all members and moderators etc on SotP. The only person who cannot enter is me although I might post one now and then just for fun.

The prize has still to be set but I'll sort something out and post details. Might even get a trophy made.

I find this capture quite moving. Its composition and structure show the photographers ability to see a hidden image beyond that of the actual subject matter.

The headlamps.. while its daylight !.. profound brilliance.

The bandages on the hands of man on the right.. obviously suggests inner struggles with life. He smiles but we see the pain. Who could miss that message.

    I could go on...

I love this competition, it just proves not just how many good photographers we have on SOTP, but also how many fantastic places they get to, and how much fun they have. This competition just proves how amazingly positive an activity canoeing is.

Right, off to trawl through my piccies!

Some great photos here - Matts one of the Awe wave stands out for me, it takes either luck or a lot of persistance to get the exposure length just right so that the canoeist stays still and sharp whilst the water moves and blurs like that. I've managed it a few times in kayak shots. Of course it may also show that the canoeist is incredibly good at surfing not to have needed to move at all during the exposure.....

I'm not sure I can compete.....

    How hard can it be?
