Where's Crow when you need him? He knows how to do it . . . but if he's temporarily flying around some other neck 'o the woods then this is how its done. Put your pictures on a photo sharing site such as flickr (easiest to use) at about 8x6" at a resolution of about 140-240 pixels per inch. When you want to post a snap to SotP open flickr in one tab and your SotP Post in another. Go to the photo on flickr and top left just above the window you will see the word 'Share' and an arrow. Click on the arrow, and a dialogue box opens with HTML or BB code. Click the radio button for BB code, put the mouse in the box, right mouse click opens the sub menu and click on Copy. Now go to the other tab with your SotP post, click right mouse and click Paste - eh voila, as they say, your picture will appear. PM me if you have any further problems.

Open the image... right click... grab the image URL (however the browser of your choice allows).... then post using the icon for "insert image"

Easy to do from some photo-sharing (web hosting) packages... and a PITA from some others... but usually manageable somehow!

    Nice!

Go to photobucket. Hover over thumbnails. A list of 4 different codes appears. Copy the BOTTOM one "IMG Code". Go to SOTP. Simply paste it in (Ctrl V or right-click/paste)

You need to upload the photos first to a host site - e.g. photobucket, Flickr etc.

You can't upload direct to this site. You have to load to a hosting site like Photobucket. Ignore anything about attaching stuff in the message box that function is switched off.

Indeed. Look at the photo Greg and I copied in. You have this correctly uploaded to Photobucket here, and just needed to copy and paste the IMG Code into SOTP, which is what I did.

This is what I do. There are slight variations.

    1. Upload image(s) to Photobucket.
    2. View as thumbnails.
    3. Hover over the thumbnail I wish to insert. A drop down with 4 options appears. The bottom one is the IMG Code. Copy this (I use Ctrl C, or you can right-click/copy).
    4. Go to your open SOTP thread.
    5. Paste directly into the thread. I use Ctrl V, but again right-click/paste is an option.

Others use the Insert Image icon on SOTP, but I find the above method quicker. If using the Insert Image, you copy the Image URL as Greg described.

    A question please Mal.
When I hover over a thumbnail in Photobucket, I get no options at all.
I have to left click on the thumbnail, which then enlarges the image. I can then right click on the larger image and copy it.
I then paste it into SOTP as you describe.

Why don't I get the options you describe ?

Hmm. No idea mate, I'm afraid! That must slow posting a blog down a lot. I use google chrome as a browser, don't see why that should make any difference as I used to use Internet Explorer.

It certainly slows things up, takes me ages to transfer pics.

You need to host that on a photo hosting website, such as Flikr or Photobucket. SOTP doesn't accept file uploads, as it would clog the server quickly with so many great images!

Not sure how to embed photos from Google Drive, so playing about here

Can you see it? I can, but that might be because I am logged into my Google drive.

    Update
Just logged out of Google Drive and I can still see it. Let's hope you all can too!

Still having trouble posting from google drive!
I used a URL shortener and emailed it to myself - no problem, the image appeared.
When I posted it onto the forum nada

I used the URL from "properties" from your Flickr box to go to the Flickr page. On the bottom right of the page, there's an arrow pointing up and right, marked "share." Click on that, and you get a long string of characters. Delete everything before and after the IMG tags. Keep the tags and what's between them, and copy that into the post.

Edit: Sorry, Flickr Share defaulted to "small". Now I've changed the size to "original."

    this is most unfair!
you can post my pictures but I can't!
when I access Flickr through the app on my iPad I just get an option to save the URL, none of the other things you mention.
Pasting this into my postings produces the URL between two IMG tags but no picture.
What additional info should there be between the IMG tags?
I will try accessing Flickr via my desktop tomorrow and see if that works.
    many thanks David

Yes, the difference may be that I'm working on a desktop, using Internet Explorer.

I've copied the complete "share" string here, but I've changed all the square brackets to round brackets, so that the SotP software doesn't try to use the tags.

I've also put some spaces into the h t t p s so that it doesn't appear as a link.

Using the BB option from Flickr and entering it into the box that appears when I click the green box
still getting the annoying IMG tags before and after. Tried entering the BB tags directly but this didn't work!
Also having trouble uploading photos. Flickr seems to want to load up ALL my pictures with an auto load which seems a bit over the top when I just want a few of them.

    getting there I think

I've deleted the [IMG] and other accompanying text
    fingers crossed.
Edit: seems to work fine, the 'secret' seems to be the use of BB codes using PC. e.g. not IOS on I-pad

I have been using Flickr to post pictures. Copy the BB code into the url box provided by the green button.
This gets the picture into the post but it is surrounded by IMG tags. If I tried to remove these the picture disappeared!
I have now discovered that if you click on the photo you can move it into a different place in the text and the IMG tags are left behind in the original position and can be deleted without removing the photo.
A quirk but a quirk that works!
