Default just one more question...rudder up haul down haul lines where to attach to boat ?

Thanks for all the advice, its been very helpful. I have attached my uphaul / downhaul lines to my rudder where do the free ends go to & how do folk attach them ? I assume I want them close to hand ? I guess somewhere behind my expected sailing position so I can just reach back for them ? Do I just slide them into clam cleats ?

    You can use clam cleats.

You could also use some elastic rope in the downhaul so that it doesnt break if it hits an obsticle underwater.

Good luck with your projects and please share some pics to share with us as we are really interested in what it looks like.

A cleat or cleats within reach is what you need - You can see my arrangement in this video (about 4.05 till 4.55)
