A well worded petition - a pleasant change from so many of the half baked offerings I have seen.

I like the way that its asking for access for everyone, not just us boaters.

It was actually started by a wildswimmer. It takes just 10 seconds to complete and needs about 275 signatures a day for the next year to force a debate in Parliament. That may be unlikely but I, for one, can't let it fail because I can't be bothered to use 10 seconds of my time. In fact I gave it another 20 seconds and emailed many non canoeists asking for their support.

Go on! Give it 30 seconds of your time!

How about this one - http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/9886 - Access to rivers and lakes in England and Wales for non powered craft.

And this one - http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/5346 - Make all UK rivers fully open to public use

I have doubts about this one, as it implies that only large rivers are suitable for access/shared use.

Err - but those petitions both closed in August and collected less than 20 signatures??? However, the state this country's in maybe we should all move to Canada, Australia . . . . or if we clubbed together we could buy Greece.

If nothing else the low numbers of signatures prove that the anglers have no case to say that the rivers would be overrun by canoeists!
