    Default Hi from Middlesbrough

    Hello all,

I am Peter Bennett from Middlesbrough.

I came across Song of the Paddle whilst googling for info for a planned trip up to Loch's Nevis & Morar in the next couple of months.

Been up there a few times quite a few years ago now. Love the place and feel the urge to go. haven't paddled for over a year now, been concentarting on fell walking mainly.

I look forward to joining in on the Forums etc and hopefully meeting new freinds.

    Regards,
    Peter Bennett

Hello Peter and welcome to this site.
There are quite a few of us locals on here so a meet shouldn't be too far away.

    Default Thanks

    Hi all

    Thanks for the welcome messages.

Really local some of you, maybe some outings possible.

To answer Tony, yes I have an Old Town Discovery. Haven't paddled for a while and recent new car means I have to get sorted with roofbars. Off to Halfords tomorrow night.

I looked at various plans for wood strippers last winter. Problem is i only have 15 ft in garage unless I take some cupboards out. Still toying with that one. Thought about building smalller craft for the 1st one but that all seems a bit presumtious that i may build more than one, so ideally the first nees to be your ultimate canoe I suppose.

    Regards, Peter.

    Hi Peter
I have built a 15' bob special stripper, and a 14' pirogue stitch and tape.
My next project is an ultralight 14' solo using the bob special frames but closing the centres down. (got to make new frames as I loaned the originals to a colleague who couldn't be bothered to make a canoe and just junked them!!!)

I have a double garage but I still had to construct on the diagonal to get access all round.
Catch you on the water sometime.

1973 MGB is previnting the diagonal approach but considered renting a bit of space off one of the local oap's witha double garage. MG copuld go in there and allow me all of my garage to use diagonally.

    Thanks for the info

    Regards, Peter.
