    Default Hello from Ontario, Canada!

Hello, everyone! I stumbled upon this site a few weeks ago while doing research into buying a new open Canadian canoe (or as we call them in Canada: a 'canoe' )

My wife and I recently got a Nova Craft Royalite Prospector 16' which we will be using for day excursions and occaisional canoe camping with our two little boys the in the wilderness of what is commonly called 'the Algonquin Region.'

I look forward to reading and sharing stories and viewpoints with you folks across the pond as a beginner from the land where the 'open Canadian canoe' was born!

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

Thanks, all, for the warm welcome. I have been reading the threads on here and found loads of good info.

As for my paddling career, so far I have:

-paddled for 1/2 hour in a lake we stumbled upon on the way home after buying the canoe
-put in at the local public beach and practiced while the kids swam
-been out for a day-long paddle in Algonquin Park, stopping for lunch and to let the boys go for a swim. The bugs were bad but it was a good day
-paddled to the beach on the opposite side of the Ottawa river with my 7 year old son.

...And we have a little camping trip planned for next weekend!

Hopefully by the end of the summer I will have lost count of the number of times I have been out. Wish me luck!
