    Pelican Pontomac 14.6

After a fair bit of deliberation we bought one of these, as 'on paper' they seemed more than up to the job of pootling up and down the rivers and canals of Leics (Photos from R. Wreake, R. Biam and GUC).

Was tempting to spend twice the dosh on something prettier, sleeker, lighter etc, but this is light enough for me to get on car by myself (just) - sort of big enough for two, without being excessive, and give the complete lack of any white water within 100miles, is more than adequate for our needs.

Had an old (10th-hand) and much patched Dagger canoe before this (cost us 50 + paddles - so no complaints), but that was both very big and very heavy. The Pontomac certainly meets our needs and as we do tend to be flat water based.

Yay, we've got one of these. One of the main good points is it will carry 2 adults + 2 little folk, but is only 14'6, which fits in my 14'6 cellar. It's been lots of fun on the Lakes this year.

We did get a young couple in, sitting side by side on the centre seat for 100 metres or so when a they stopped us for a lift, but did make the boat a bit wobbly. Made their day tho . Certainly space for a third person in the middle.
