    Default Yorkshire meet - yes!

    Andy

My son Jim and I would be up for another get-together - we came down the Derwent with David and co. the other month as you were coming up it in your new boat, but we doubled back to the put-in, so missed you.

    Options are:

    River Derwent again

    Ouse

Wharfe from my house in Tadcaster down to Cawood - 10 miles

Driffield to Beverley on the River Hull - Jim and I checked this out last week and did the first 3 miles which are on the canal - it then goes into the river Hull which is very nice.

Let us know how you're fixed.

    Regards

    Andrew B

    Up for a local meet.

Borgwitha / Andrew, if you are likely to do the Taddy to Cawood run any time soon me n the young lad would be up for a get together one Sat/Sun. Pull out at Taddy weir is the furthest weve been down the Wharfe so far. Drop me a PM if you fancy it.

    Cheers

I would also be up for a trip if I can fit it into work and am sure that David B would also be up for it if work commitments allow.
Keep us posted on where and when. Cheers for now Mike B...

Ok had a drive out to Cawood and Taddy tonight.

Taddy has a big free car park but we'll need to drop boats off closer (50 yard ish portage was closest I could find) to put in first then park cars.
River looked high enough at the 6 or so points i examined, nice and sunny too wish I'd taken the boat with me
I found an easy if a little muddy get out a couple of hundred yards up the road from Cawood Park campsite. (50 yard portage to road with layby that could be used to load up 2/3 cars at a time, but its the entrance to a farm road so couldn't be used to leave any cars)

    Overview map as requested

Map of Tadcaster (put in below weir)

    Water level at Taddy

    Muddy get out

    Cawood overview

Ive made a trip Map but didnt scan too clever ill print and bring along

Hope that provides at least food for thought prior to tonights chat room meet at 9pm.

    Cheers

    Guys
I may be able to make this trip being as I live in Taddy maybe I should have done it allready.
Two points first if you park in the free car park behind the bus station and Tad Kebab then the portage is just over the bank or drive past Sainsburys and put in left bank just below the wier, allthough this option may involve running the gauntlet of The Tadcaster Fisher Folk.
Second the muddy exit at cawood is actually tidal so depending on what the tide is doing it maybe worse,or not muddy at all.
I Started out with nothing! and i still have most of it left.

    Yeh!
I know its a long way from the sea but the wharfe joins the ouse at Cawood the ouse and the trent combine and then become the Humber and a lot of water comes up the Humber. The ouse is actually tidal right up to naburn.
I dont do chat rooms as i cant type fast enough by the time I type a reply and submit everybody else is usually at least 2 pages ahead.

Ok Sunday 10:30 Sainsbury's Carpark at Tadcaster. On the 2nd map above i think its the red blob where the 'r' in weir is. David says theres a layby further down to offload stuff closer to the put in too. AndyM is camping Saturday night and is going to post details of that. I know Troughing Doormouse you said you might be up for that.

Ok here's to a smashing meet, look forward to it already.

Sounds good to me could probably do with an alternative egress just in case as that mud is up to your Knees, evil smelling, and sticky.
Will see if Split and Frank (F&LP) would be up for this. Mike B...

    Smile sunday - wharfe

    Folks

It seems like a lot has happened since I suggested the paddles this Sunday - I'm in Tad and the Sainsbury's put-in is the best - can leave cars here no problem - fishermen no problem either.

If we go into the Ouse and into Cawood itself, there's a simple egress on a jetty used by the water-skiing club - they let us use it last year no problem.

    See you at 10.30.

    Regards

    Andrew B

You've probably checked this out already guys but there's easy access at Boston Spa Bridge. Although on my last visit the bridge itself was closed to vehicles. Have a good run

    See you all Sunday morning
