    Default Ullswater again

Not a bad weekend realy. Fitted airbags and lashings to the boat on Saturday. Also so met someone picking mushrooms on site who confirmed we have ceps in the wood - he also identified sever new edible species.

Anyway the main point - spent a happy few hours on Ullswate on Sunday. Second trip out in the boat and first to the Lakes. Launched from Side Farm in Patterdale. Very nice cake to be had. Staff kindly let us launch even thought we where not staying and only stopped for a brew (I'll certainly be camping there in future)

    Some photos hopefully:

I added the image tags to make the pictures visible.

Nice pictures by the way but where is the canoe?

I'm sat in the back so if I take forward piccies the crew's fat head fills the camera!

    Default side farm campsite

Can I give a big thumbs up for the folk at Side Farm Campsite. Like you I found them really friendly and helpful on a recent visit. At the back end of a bankholiday weekend they could have been foregiven for being anything but. With direct lake access they are clearly keen to encourage paddlers and deserve support.

    Default Side Farm campsite

The campsite is wonderfully situated, and everyone seems very friendly. Only real downside is that it is all slopes...hard to get a flat pitch and very stoney... make sure you take your mallet to drive the pegs in!

Nice easy paddle across to Glenriding and the pub;-)

I've camped there a couple of times and plan to do so again before the end of season over a couple of weekends.
