    Default Gipping River

I was asked to post this link giving handy information on canoe trips on the river.

Hopefully it will be of use.

Default Sudbury to the Sea 12-13th September 2009

I see they have set the date for the Sudbury to the sea for 2009. It's the weekend of the 12th to 13th September.
Good news this year is there will be a tide at Mannintree at 7.00 pm on the Sunday so we should be able to get all the way down to Manningtree and not have to rush. This means we can avoid the crowds at Catterwade and have a pint in the Sailing Club (Adams finest).
I have mentioned this to the club as a number of members there take part in the trip, but also anyone else who turns up in a Canoe will be welcome to stop for a drink + there are loos and somewhere to change.

Nope as the OCA Rally is taking place. But 'we' did our annual trip from Claydon to Ipswich last Sunday. It's not a river regularly paddled due to the uncertainty of the access and navigation. Hence the portages round the many weirs are not very easy, so no nice egress platforms, just lots of steep banks overgrown with stinging nettles. It's a real shame that something isn't done to clean up the river as it should be an asset rather than it's current unloved status. Good luck and have a good trip if you are doing it this weekend.

Default Gipping trip Monday 4th May 2009

This is still on and weather is looking really good.
We will be there at Prentice Road car park in Stowmarket to start at 9.30 am. Note it costs £2.00 to park all day. We will be offering lifts back to the start from Ipswich. Full update on the river is on Canoeme
